Meghalaya is a state located in northeastern India. It is one of the seven sister states of the region and is bordered by Assam to the north and east and Bangladesh to the south and west. The capital of Meghalaya is Shillong, which is also its largest city.

Some of the prominent attractions in Meghalaya include the Living Root Bridges in Cherrapunji, the Mawlynnong village known for its cleanliness and eco-tourism initiatives, and the picturesque Umiam Lake near Shillong.

Meghalaya is home to several indigenous tribes, each with its distinct culture, traditions and language. Among these tribes, the Khasi, Garo, and Jaintia communities are prominent and known for their matrilineal social structure. Economically, Meghalaya's major industries include tourism, handloom & handicrafts, agriculture, horticulture, sericulture and forestry. The state is known for its production of fruits, vegetables, and spices. Additionally, Meghalaya has significant deposits of coal, limestone, and other minerals, which contribute to its mining industry.
